UN has It’s Own Country Now?
Rep. Cong. Charlie Rangel speaking and condeming Chavez
«You do not come into my country, my congressional district, and you do not condemn my president. If there is any criticism of President Bush, it should be restricted to Americans, whether they voted for him or not. I just want to make it abundantly clear to Hugo Chavez or any other president, do not come to the United States and think because we have problems with our president that any foreigner can come to our country and not think that Americans do not feel offended when you offend our Chief of State.»
The question I have: “Which country ?” As UN stands for United Nations, and technically speaking UN has no country of it’s own, having headquarter based on the US land, more precisely NYC, doesn’t make this as “my country”. So Chavez wasn’t present, or wasn’t visiting United States of America. And it’s not just my opinion as several others also agree with this.
BTW, did I mention that I do agree with most what Chavez said and continues to say, when it comes to world politics. Of course he shouldn’t speak so openly when in public, as he is after all the head of his country and represents his nation on the world stage.
Some interesting part from Chavezs’ speech from the UN General Assembly:
«Yesterday, ladies and gentlemen, from this rostrum, the president of the United States, the gentleman to whom I refer as the devil, came here, talking as if he owned the world. Truly. As the owner of the world.
I think we could call a psychiatrist to analyze yesterday’s statement made by the president of the United States. As the spokesman of imperialism, he came to share his nostrums, to try to preserve the current pattern of domination, exploitation and pillage of the peoples of the world.
An Alfred Hitchcock movie could use it as a scenario. I would even propose a title: “The Devil’s Recipe.”
